Cover: Immunolocalization of antibody to urea transporter in section of rat kidney demonstrates the specialized location of the UT-A2 isoform (green) in different regions of descending thin limb of the loop of Henle. Vascular elements are labeled by anti-von Willebrand factor (vWF; blue); other structures are labeled by anti-aquaporin-1 (AQP1; red). Descending vasa recta (pink) have both vWF and AQP1. Upper region of descending thin limbs of short-looped nephrons lacks UT-A labeling but shows AQP1 labeling. Thin limbs close to inner medulla label with anti-UT-A but lack anti-AQP1 label.
