Cover: Immunofluorescence labeling of the Na-K-ATPase alpha 1-subunit in rabbit kidney. Distal tubule and cortical thick ascending limb cells are strongly positive at the basolateral membrane (green), whereas macula densa cells are almost devoid of staining. Specific staining is absent when sections were incubated with the alpha 6F nonsecreting hybridoma supernatant. Nuclei are blue. See related article by J. Peti-Peterdi, Z. Bebok, J.-Y. Lapointe, and P. D. Bell. Novel regulation of cell [Na+] in macula densa cells: apical Na+ recycling by H-K-ATPase. Am J Physiol Renal Physiol 282: F324-F329, 2002.
